Whatskin, founded by Molly Colabuono is a new app that analyzes images of skin, and provides a what skin score (’perfect’ skin is a 10).
The app asks a series of questions about your skin, asks you to provide 3 selfies, once submitted the app asks you to wait for up to 20 minutes, then asks a few more questions.
Theoretically while you are waiting for the analysis an esthetician is analyzing the results...my hunch, just from the output it feels like Perfect Corp...
The esthetician piece, even if there really is a human on the other end, is not obvious.
You are asked to select the frequency you would like to submit progress photos, and then provided with a score and an analysis of the problem areas of your skin...followed by potential skincare recommendations.
Overall this app is really not much different than other services out there.
Whatskin claims to use a patented biomarker test, from what I can tell it appears to be a pH, oil, or moisture reader...
The app is free to use, where the model appears to be affiliate links and data retrieval (with a fee for the biomarker test).
