- Shiseido developed a device that can analyze complex skin bacteria in 40 minutes, an analysis which often takes weeks.
- Currently the plan for Shiseido’s ‘unique skin bacteria device’ is to use it on a trial basis on their R&D facility in Yokohama.
- The device uses PCR, and according to the release:
- “Shiseido measured the two types of indigenous bacteria— Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes—and it confirmed that the amount and balance of these bacteria are equivalent to the results of those being examined with a conventional method (16S rRNA amplicon analysis).”
