- SOS is a Boston based startup that is rethinking the traditional tampon vending machine.
- Founded by Robina Verbeek & Susanna Twarog, SOS has created a touchless experience with updated brands for the bathroom.
- The machines offer more than tampons including products from Cora, Drybar, First Aid Beauty, Hanky Panky, Hero., Korres, Kosas, Megababe, R+Co, Recess, Teleties, & Ursa Major.
- For many reasons it is exciting to see SOS.
- The public restroom space has traditionally been owned by the cheapest version of P&G's Tampax and often the thickest pads on earth.
- Offering brands/products that people actually want to use and need in a pinch, creates a lasting memory of a product that saved them. Rather than the tampon that saved me...but also is only being used because it is the ONLY option.
- There is also the opportunity that SOS provides around advertising.
- It can serve as a discovery distribution platform for brands, but also for consumers.
- I have a soft spot for any brand that is taking on the traditional drug store aisle. and the curation of brands in these vending machines present a glimpse of those brands that are becoming the essentials for consumers.
